Fabletics Fit

Exercise anytime and anywhere with the Fabletics Fit App. This app helps members achieve their goals through different programs, on-demand classes, self-guided sessions, challenges and meditations! New classes are shared weekly with 100s of workouts to choose from.

Problem

Today we don't do a good job of telling our users what the membership is or how they can benefit from it. With the launch of a new membership model for Fabletics users there was expressed interest in creating more value and benefits for VIP Members. The company also wanted to provide additional avenues for users to connect with the brand and remain relevant within the industry.

Data

I began the project by analyzing user feedback to gain qualitative data from real members regarding what they are looking for in their VIP membership in addition to receiving discounted prices and credits. Based off of the date we learned that members did not feel like the perk of having discounted prices was enough to remain a long-term member. This lead to the hypothesis that having additional perks will lead to more membership growth and retention.

Competitor Analysis

After gaining a better understanding around what members are looking for in their membership I took time to conduct an analysis of the key features we identified are necessary to include in the beta version of a fitness app.

Some questions we were looking to answer:
  • How are applications scheduling programs? Takeaway – 4/6 apps had a calendar view
  • How are applications allowing users to interact with a calendar? Takeaway – 3/6 apps had radio like selections
  • What type of class and program information is being shared and displayed? Takeaway – 5/6 apps had time, intensity, equipment and description

Persona

Once learning more about what our members are looking for in a fitness app and in their VIP membership and after growing a better understanding of what competitors are focusing on, personas were able to be determined in order to promote a more aligned direction. These personas helped with content development as well as what features the user experience should focus on.

Discovery

After the analysis phase I created wireframes and an app architecture to learn more about the user story and flow of the application. During this phase we determined the main features of the app: Programs, Classes, Self-Guided Sessions and Meditations. We also identified what core features would be later released due to time constraints the business presented for wanting to launch the beta version: Challenges, Music integration and Build your own program.

User Test

Once the core features were determined we tested core elements of each feature to determine what resonates more with the members and to make decisions about interactions. Here is a quick look at one of the many user tests that were conducted:

What did we test?

Schedule an exposed calendar on the workout page vs. creating a separate calendar page that a user can navigate from a CTA.

What did we observe?
  •  Users in the CTA test questioned why the schedule wasn't exposed. If they were in the mindset of choosing a workout, they'd want to see the schedule to help make their decision
  • Users wanted more detail/engagement on the schedule (colors, pictures, descriptions of workouts, etc.)
  • Users wanted the schedule higher up on the workout page if they had opted in
What did we decide?
  • The exposed calendar is the optimal experience
  • While most users understood view all and how to reschedule, they did have some questions

Solution

The Fabletics Fit App introduces brand new member perks to Fabletics members and individuals that are interested in fitness. The app is perfect for any user that is interested in working at home with top trainers from the Fabletics community. Programs are designed to meet any specific fitness goals and gives users the opportunity to take individual classes across a variety of categories. Complete monthly challenges to unlock exclusive rewards to shop for on Fabletics or loyalty points for VIPs. The app also keeps track of weekly activity, workout history and progress towards fitness goals.

Programs

Fabletics Fit programs are built for real results through a series of classes ranging from 13-30 days. This feature consists of an interactive calendar and full video workouts that help users walk through.

Classes

On-demand and led by professional instructors from top fitness studios. Classes are full length videos that a user can watch and follow along. Users have the ability to connect to their own music source and simultaneously listen to the trainer. Each audio source has individual in app volume controls. Once a user has completed a class their progress gets stored in their profile for progress tracking.

Self-Guided Sessions

If a user is looking for a quick sweat, you can also choose from a variety of 5-20 min self-guided workouts targeting specific body parts including arms, core, legs or glutes.

Meditations

Meditations strengthen the ability to conquer stress and anxiety while helping to improve sleep and focus.
